To celebrate the partnership between Zeiss and UC Merced’s MACES an Open House to showcase the newly acquired state of the art scanning electron microscopic (SEM) imaging instrument, Gemini SEM 500, was held on July 14th. Over 50 faculty members and students from UC Merced, Merced College, CSU Fresno and local high teachers attended this event. Two Zeiss application specialists also spoke about the latest developments in high temporal and spatial resolution characterization of nanomaterials, including those enabled by the Gemini SEM 500. In the afternoon, participants were able to witness first-hand images captured by the SEM using their own samples.
