High School Teacher's Workshop

The tendency to cover a wide range of disjointed topics without depth, and the disconnection between scientific content and scientific practices are two deficiencies identified by National Research Council. To help high school science teachers seamlessly link tangible technological solutions with STEM concepts, we are offering a paid Teacher Professional Development Workshops every summer. A key element of the workshop is the development of science discovery modules on energy and sensing.  The modules will integrate cutting edge technologies with scientific discovery processes to reinforce basic STEM concepts and stimulate STEM interest. Every year 4-6 high school science teachers will participate in the summer professional development, co-develop scientific discovery modules with MACES graduate students. This working relationship will extend beyond the workshop. We will help them to implement these modules in their home schools and collect feedback for continuous improvement.
